Hello All,
Just a reminder, we have the robotics night next week on Wednesday, May 25. Also on Thursday we will be demonstrating our robot at the Upbeat picnic. Then on Monday, May 30 we will also have a float in the Memorial Day parade. We are looking for some help on Thursday to man the both at the picnic from 5-8 and some participants to march in the parade. Please let me know if you are available for any or both of these events.
As of this morning I have 3 students interested in attending the Wolcott post season competition on June 11. This is a great opportunity to try driving this year's robot!

Nutty was placed in an air tight bag by midnight and will rest until the Hartford Regional. Good News, our team was notified on Tuesday that we have been selected as a recipient of a CL&P grant. This was submitted by the team the day after we received notification from FIRST. Special thanks to Kevin Smith who worked above and beyond as he tried to work out many programming issues last night. Kevin stayed to witness the bag and tag! Woody and Emily worked over 12 hours yesterday to make sure we met the deadline. Last out the door Mr. Rodriguez, Ryan, Eric Becker and myself. Doors closed at 1 am. More will follow today with assignments for scouting Hartford teams. All students who have met the try-out criteria will be eligible for driver/human player try-outs. All sponsors should have been handed in, we have to submit the t-shirt design this week. Final decision of who will best represent the team will be made by a committee of mentors after interview, written test and driver ability. We will make our decision ASAP so we can move forward to practice for this team. Next meeting will be held Thursday from 6:30-8. Any student or mentor who ordered a hoodie should bring a Check for $34 made out to Store 12 for Thursday's meeting. Try to gather as much information about the teams you are scouting. Check out other sites such as Chief Delphi and the team's web site if they have one. Once you have found the team name you could also Google it to find more. The more we find out now the easier it will be when we scout at the regional. See if your team is entered at other regionals prior to Hartford by following the links I provided in the attachment. If you go to Chief Delphi you will find a photo of our robot just prior to shipping. Happy hunting!

We have asked that all students on the FIRST team find at least 3 sponsors for the season. We are down on our fundraising dollars and would greatly benefit from your personal involvement with this effort, this is not an option, we expect all to participate. Please let us know which businesses you have contacted successful or not so we can generate a list to prevent multiple visits from our members. I know Bill's Pizza has already been solicited. It was very disappointing to see only three students have begun this initiative, two being middle schoolers. If you need more forms please request them at our meetings.

Hello all,
We had a great meeting Saturday, prototypes were being made and drive system was assembled. We are close to making major decisions on mechanisms which will determine the types of material apparatus and drive need to start ordering for the manufacturing of the designed elements. Exciting stuff! A couple elements of the playing field have been constructed as well.
Shortly I will be establishing criteria for drivers of this years drive team. Please pay attention to the details because they will be different than previous years.
Another reminder, students and parents should submit their ideas for a t-shirt design ASAP, the deadline is February 1st.
Meetings this week will be Monday - Friday 6:30 - 8. Be on time, the start of our meetings lay the groundwork for the items covered by the various sub-teams.
Enjoy your day off from school.
